eSIM Technology Evolution and Compatibility
eSIM technology was first invented in 2012. However, it took a few years for brands to integrate this technology into their devices.
- Apple: Introduced eSIM support with the Apple Watch Series 3 in September 2017. In 2018, it extended support to the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPad Pro.
- Samsung: Integrated eSIM with the Galaxy S20 series in February 2020, including the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra.
While eSIM technology has become popular, especially among travelers, not all phones support it. Always check your phone’s compatibility before purchasing an eSIM.

The second way to find out if your phone supports eSIM is to use external software available on the Google Play Store.
Software Name: E Sim Compatibility Checker
- Go to the Google Play Store and download the E Sim Compatibility Checker app.
- Open the app and grant the necessary permissions.
- The app will show you if your phone is compatible with eSIM.

3- Checking with IMEI screen.
This method is easier than others. We will check the e-SIM compatibility of the phone with the help of an international code used in almost every phone. Follow the steps below in order.
- Open the number pad of your Phone
- Dial *#06#. IMEI screen will appear instantly
- Check the “EID” Label. If you see this label, your phone supports eSIM
